With rain predicted the next few days and the sun still being out, I took a long walk down the Hudson River promenade over to Jersey City. They've finished it to the point where you can walk all the way downtown along the river. I was hoping to get some shots of downtown Manhattan as the sun was setting.
I liked how the rocks along the river looked with the city in the background. I took 5 pictures at different exposures, and combined them in Lightroom to get the equal light effect and HDR look. Click to view the large version.
I've walked down here before at night to try and get some long exposure shots, but never at sunset. Click for a larger version.
It's been a long time since I just set out with the intent of taking a specific picture at a specific time. I have a few other spots I want to hit with views of the city, and I'll add to this album as I get them. I've also ordered my first ND filter to get some long exposure shots during daylight, and as the weather starts warming up I plan to use it more often.
After walking around, and after eating oatmeal for breakfast and a salad for lunch, I caved. I made up the excuse that I had walked around for a few miles, so I deserved an unhealthy meal. Ridiculous.
Burger from PJ Ryans in Downtown Jersey City (5 miles per dollar). Great happy hour.
I am definitely turning into one of these, but at least I'm collecting miles.
