So I decided to book a last minute trip to Hong Kong.  I wanted to squeeze a week in somewhere before the end of the year, as I already have trips planned for Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Years.  I have a lot of places I want to go, but with not a lot of time to research flights to new places, I looked back on some of my other trips.

I went to Hong Kong for a weekend back when I was working on a chemical plant start-up in Taiwan.  After being in country for 30 days, I’d have to leave for a few to renew my Visa, and I had picked Hong Kong as one of the destinations.

The trip was fun, but not exactly my type of vacation.  I did a bunch of work, and sleeping, the first day from the hotel.  The next two days were spent just trying to decompress, rather unsuccessfully, before going back to work in Taiwan.  On top of that, it was pretty hazy out for the night shots I had wanted to get, and I forgot to bring my tripod.

I found myself saying repeatedly during the trip that I’d have to come back here again.  I always say that when I leave a place, but never really mean it.  With everything else going on, I think that time I meant it, so I decided Hong Kong was perfect for this last minute decision.
